ACROSS BORDERS

Our recent film "La Finestra Sempre Aperta" was developed as a cross cultural collaboration between the United States and Italy, filmed entirely on location in Florence.

Created with an Italian cast and creative team, the project reflects a natural exchange of language, perspective, and storytelling. Performed entirely in Italian, the piece remains closely tied to its environment, allowing the setting to inform both tone and narrative.

The result is a story that feels specific to its place while remaining universally understood.

CULTURAL EXCHANGE

This project was shaped through a natural exchange of culture, language, and perspective.

Working with an international team allowed the story to evolve through collaboration, where differences in background and experience became part of the creative process. Through collaboration across languages and backgrounds, the creative process became a space of listening, adaptation, and discovery. Meaning was often found not only in what was said, but in what was felt, observed, and shared between artists.

DIRECTOR'S NOTE

Sean Daniel Cunningham

Working with a bilingual and international team was central to the process. It required a different kind of communication and attention, which ultimately strengthened the authenticity of the performances.

The film follows a relationship shaped by cultural difference, language, and timing, set within the everyday rhythm of Florence. Rather than focusing on dramatic turning points, the intention was to capture the subtle shifts that occur between people as a connection evolves.

The legend of the open window provided a meaningful reference point. It reflects ideas of waiting, memory, and the passage of time, which echo quietly throughout the film.
